Session 2: Let's learn about biographies

Session number 2 is aimed for the students to get to know what a biography is and how they work. 

Objectives of the session:

  • To brainstorm about the biography parts and what goes inside each part.

  • To complete an activity to show the comprehension of the biography parts.

​

  • To set the groups for the next session.

Description of the activities:

Activity 1: The first activity will be a recapitulation on the topics talked about during the previous session.

              Class organization: Whole class

 

              Timing:   5 minutes

Activity 2:  Brainstorm about the parts of a biography and what can it include. With this activity, the teacher will present a white template that they will use as a class in order to create a model to see what goes into each part of the biography.

​

 

              Class organization: Whole class

 

              Timing:   30 minutes

Activity 3: The students will be set into groups of 2 or 3 and will have the change to think about the famous character they want to write about.

 

 

 

 

             Class organization:  Whole class

 

              Timing:   5 minutes

DOL ACTIVITY: I will be able to differentiate 2 of the 4 main characteristic parts of a biography.

​

The students will be given a model biography of a famous character and they will have to differentiate between the different parts. 

​

​

 Class organization:  Individual work

 

              Timing:   10  minutes

Assessment:

 

  1. The attention and interest shown during the session.

  2. The participation given during the discussion segments.

  3. The DOL activity.

 

 

Attention to diversity: During the session, the discussion segments will be done in English by the teacher but the students will be able to interact in their mother tongue if they feel more comfortable, and the teacher will reformulate what the students say in English. Also, to make everybody understand, the creation of the biography all together in the class to see what goes where.
